The 2016 Southern California Regional Championships kicked off with the women's bracket and the #8 seed Citrus College falling to the #9 seed Mt. SAC 8-7 in sudden death overtime. Citrus jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first quarter but Mt. SAC responded netting three goals in the second to tie it up 3-3 at halftime. Similar second half results would lead to a 6-6 tie at the end of regulation and force overtime. Neither team wanted to go home as they fought for every advantage, finally after trading goals in each overtime period, Mt. SAC emerged victorious 8-7 in sudden death. #9 Mt. SAC will take on #1 Santa Barbara at 9:00AM Friday morning.

Game 2 saw #5 Orange Coast College cruise past #12 San Diego Mesa 11-5. Orange Coast was paced by Shawna Kedzie who netted four goals. #5 Orange Coast will take on #4 Golden West College at 10:15AM Friday.

Game 3 was a battle between #7 Ventura College and #10 Cerritos College, Ventura would outlast Cerritos 10-7. Ventura was paced by Lauren Wiksell with five goals and Maeve Flynn with two goals. #7 Ventura College moves on to play #2 Fullerton College at 11:30AM Friday.

Game 4 of the day matched up the #6 seeded Long Beach City College Vikings versus #11 seeded Palomar College Comets. The Vikings would prevail 14-8 thanks to the offensive consistency. Long Beach was paced by Victoria Johnson who netted six goals. #6 Long Beach will match up against #3 Riverside City College at 12:45PM Friday afternoon.

Game 5 shifted to the men's bracket where #8 LA Valley College outlasted #9 Citrus College 18-16 in overtime. LA Valley would score two goals in the overtime period and was paced by Vasil Halchev with four goals. With the win LA Valley moves on to play the #1 seed Golden West College at 2:00pm Friday.

Game 6 was a matchup between #7 seeded Grossmont College and #10 Cuesta College. Cuesta started quickly and established a commanding lead over Grossmont, Cuesta went on to defeat Grossmont 12-8. The offense was paced by John Hartshorne who netted four goals. With the win #10 Cuesta College moves on to play #2 Cerritos College at 4:30pm Friday.
