PASADENA, Calif. - El Camino (33-3) continues its grip on the No. 1 spot in the California Community College Sports Information Association State Top 20 Baseball poll despite an end to its 25-game win streak at the hands of unranked Rio Hondo on Tuesday.
Orange Coast (28-7) controls its No. 2 ranking, but Ohlone (31-3), which has won nine of its last 10 games, moves up No. 3, passing Santa Rosa (27-7), now at No. 4. Riverside CC (27-8) jumps up three spots into No. 5 while Sacramento City (27-8) makes the same leap and settles in at No. 6. Palomar (27-7) is at No. 7, San Mateo (30-5), despite an 11-game win streak, fell to No. 8. Glendale (29-5-1) is at No. 9 and Grossmont (25-6-1), winners of 10 straight, enters the top 10 at No. 10.
Going into April 20 games, the conference races are as follows:
El Camino (17-1) is still a win or a new No. 19 Long Beach CC (12-5 in conf.) loss from having the South Coast Conference South Division title outright. (won share last week).
Orange Coast and Riverside are tied for the Orange Empire lead, both 13-3. No. 11 Cypress is in third with new No. 17 Saddleback in fourth place.
Ohlone (12-1) has a 1-1/2 games lead on No. 13 Cabrillo (11-3) in the Coast Pacific standings.
Sacramento (17-4) has a half-game lead over Santa Rosa (17-5) for the Big 8 top spot. No. 12 San Joaquin Delta is in third and No. 18 Cosumnes River in fourth.
Grossmont (18-1) leads Palomar (17-2) by one game in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference race.
San Mateo (15-1) clinched at least a tie for the Coast Golden Gate title. Chabot is four games back.
Glendale (13-1-1) is hanging on to its half-game lead over No. 14 Canyons (13-2) in the Western State East.
No. 15 Merced (14-2 in conf.) is closing in on the Central Valley crown with a 4-game lead over No. 16 Sequoias.
New No. T-20 Pasadena City (11-6 in conf.) is three games ahead in the loss column and two in the W column ahead of Rio Hondo in the South Coast North.
The other No. 20-ranked Santa Barbara CC (10-5 in conf.) has a slim 1/2 game lead in the WSC North over Cuesta (10-6) while Moorpark and Ventura are still in the hunt.
Outside of the Top 20
Marin (13-3 in conf.) is in first place in the Bay Valley standings, a a game ahead of Los Medanos (12-4).
Despite an under .500 overall record at 16-20, Pierce (12-4 in conf.) is one game ahead of LA Mission (11-5) in the fight for the Western State South title.
Feather River (15-5 in conf.) keeps a 2-1/2 games lead in the Golden Valley race over Lassen (12-7).
