SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Grossmont became the first San Diego County area college to win a CCCAA state baseball championship on Monday as the Griffins were tabbed as No. 1-ranked team in the final California Community College Sports Information Association State Top 20 Baseball Rankings.

Grossmont (38-8-1) defeated 2016 state champ Santa Rosa Junior College (38-11) in the title game finale with the Bear Cubs taking their rightful spot at No. 2. El Camino, the 1951 state runner-up, had one of its best years since that season and was rated No. 3 with Ohlone, 2010 state champs, the other CCCAA final four participant and boasting the most victories in 2017 with 42 at No. 4. Regular season No. 1 Orange Coast finishes at No. 5.

The Big 8 Conference duo of San Joaquin Delta (36-11) and Sacramento City (33-14) take No. 6 and No. 7, respectively, while Long Beach City (30-16-1) jumped into the final top 10 at No. 8. Cypress (29-15) also made a big leap to take No. 9 with Palomar (32-10) completing the state top 10 at No. 10.
