Fresno, CA - Santa Rosa Bear Cubs jumped to an early lead over Golden West scoring four runs in the first inning and held on through the checkered flag with Matt Estes and Jered Noonan leading the way from the mound.
The first inning for the Bear Cubs started off with an error by the third baseman and on the very next play Bryce Nagata hit a sinking fly-ball to centerfield which got below the centerfielders glove and rolled all the way to the 400 foot mark which resulted in an inside-the-park homerun. Northern California MVP Jake Scheiner hit a ball through the left side and after an out Jeff Bart stepped up to the plate and lifted one to left-center which cleared both the homerun wall and the protective fence above it.
Santa Rosa got their final two runs with Myles Andrews hitting a double, then advancing to third base on a wild pitch. Charlie Magana singled which brought home Andrews along with knocking out the Rustlers' starting pitcher Cody Marshall. The final run scored on a walk that brought home Magana.
Golden West scored in the fifth inning with Tyler Depreta's single that drove in Danny Maguire. In the ninth Golden West showed some life with Michael Fuchs single and later advancing to second on a wild pitch. John Shattles singled which put runners on the corners. A double down the left field line by Philiip Knapp scored Fuchs. With one out Golden West was unable to score another run.
Santa Rosa earns the 6-2 victory and punches their ticket to Monday's state championship game while Golden West will play Cypress at 5:15pm for a shot at the second position in tomorrow's title game.
